iQOO Introduces 120W Fast Charge System – A Full Charge in Just 15 Minutes

The iQOO system promises to recharge a 4,000 mAh capacity battery in just 15 minutes with its fast charge system.

iQOO, the brand belonging to the BBK group – which also has brands such as OnePlus, Vivo and Oppo in its catalog – has presented the first fast charging system capable of injecting 120 watts of power . This represents a considerable leap from the systems currently available in most smartphones on the market.

This transfer of power, as announced by the brand, implies that a 4,000 mAh capacity battery can go from 0% to 100% charge in just 15 minutes. Similarly, the 120-watt system allows you to go from 0% to 50% in just 5 minutes, according to iQOO.

The prototype used during the presentation had a battery divided into two parts – with 2,000 mAh of capacity each. Each of them independently recharges at 5 volts and 12 amps, equivalent to about 60 watts of power in each half.

Mobiles that incorporate this fast charging technology will have additional security measures . These include a steam chamber that will improve the cooling of the device while charging at 120 watts.

iQOO Fast Charge will Take This Load to The Market

This is not the first time that a manufacturer has shown a fast charging system capable of 120 watts of power . The Chinese brand Vivo, also from the BBK group, showed in 2019 a system capable of also injecting 120 watts of power into the interior of a smartphone . However, it was never integrated into a commercially available smartphone.

iQOO, however, looks like it could launch its first commercial product with this fast-charging technology in the coming weeks. That, at least, is what indicates a leaker collected by the local publication Gizmochina.

The advancement of fast charging systems is beneficial for consumers, who can enjoy their devices longer without having to be tied to the power line with a cable. These types of technologies, however, can accelerate the degradation of the battery – shortening its useful life. Therefore, it will be important to evaluate this aspect in future iQOO smartphones or any other brand that decides to implement a fast charging system with this capacity.
