Today we’ll review the Roborock S6 – A powerful robotic vacuum cleaner. Those days gone when robotic vacuum cleaners uselessly rolled on the floor, carrying dust from one corner to another. Today, companies produce super powerful devices that are comparable in the quality of cleaning with classic vacuum cleaners. At the same time, they work completely autonomously, independently moving through the rooms and going to the base when cleaning is completed. The Roborock S6 MaxV is one of the most powerful and advanced robot vacuum cleaners on the market, which not only cleans the room, but also takes care of the surrounding things and pets.
Design and Equipment of Roborock S6 MaxV
All robotic vacuum cleaners are somewhat similar to each other, so it’s nice to find features in their design. The Roborock S6 has an unusual color scheme: its body is made of glossy plastic, which barely shines in the light. It looks elegant and even a little festive, but at the same time it fits into any interior.
The design of the model is classic: it is a round washer on two powerful wheels that help the robot overcome thresholds and small obstacles. The dimensions are compact, so that the robot can pass under chairs and dressers, cleaning out hard-to-reach places: its diameter is 35.3 mm, and its height does not exceed 7 cm.
On the top panel there is a turret with a lidar and three mechanical buttons: for sending the robot to the base, starting cleaning and turning it on/off. And in front, at the end, there is the most interesting element – a dual camera. It is used for navigation and object recognition. The robot is also equipped with two containers: for dust (0.46 l) and for water (0.3 l). The first can be accessed by flipping the top cover. The e liquid container is attached to the back of the vacuum cleaner – it is easy to remove it by simply pulling it out.
The robot vacuum cleaner comes with a charging station, a microfiber nozzle for wet cleaning, an additional fine filter and a flat transparent stand that can be installed in the charging area.
You can also find a brush for cleaning the container under the lid of the vacuum cleaner. Interestingly, it is equipped with a small blade – with its help it is convenient to cut hair that winds around the turbo brush during cleaning. It would seem like a small but very important detail that immediately shows the level of care for the user.

Functions and Management
In addition to the functions of dry and wet cleaning, the Roborock vacuum cleaner has something to boast about. For example, it supports the ReactiveAI intelligent object recognition system – it works through a dual camera and lidar, which are built into the body of the device. The Qualcomm APQ8053 processor helps to process information from cameras – almost like in smartphones.
During cleaning, the vacuum cleaner “sees” objects in its path and carefully goes around them. In this case, the image of the found object appears on the map that the robot builds in the application: different icons are provided for different objects. In general, jokes about a vacuum cleaner stuck in wires or animal waste products are not appropriate here.
By the way, about the application: to control all the functions of the vacuum cleaner, the Mi Home program is used, available for smartphones on Android and iOS. Everything is set up very simply: first you need to connect the vacuum cleaner to Wi-Fi, following the instructions. Next, you will be asked to select the room in which the charging station is installed, and indicate if there are pets in the house. If there are pets, the robot will turn on Pet mode, in which it will recognize and go around them while cleaning.
When you turn it on for the first time, the vacuum cleaner analyzes the area around and builds a map of the room – you can save and edit it as you like. For example, add “invisible walls” to restrict access to certain areas; select areas where cleaning is prohibited; or indicate the point on the map to which the vacuum cleaner should head.
You can also customize the cleaning order: if you have several rooms, they will be cleaned in the desired sequence. It is also possible to program the robot on the days of the week so that it automatically starts cleaning at a specified time.
The device accompanies every action with a voice notification: for example, when it goes to the station, it says “Charge!” In the settings, you can select the voice volume and change the language – or turn off notifications altogether.
Spy Robot? No!
As we have already said, the robot vacuum cleaner is equipped with a camera with which it is better oriented in space and recognizes objects in its path. However, a logical question arises – can the device be used to spy on the house?
Roborock gives a clear answer to it: no, the robot will not follow you while cleaning. It does not save, copy or upload the photos you have taken to the cloud. What’s more, the S6 MaxV is the first vacuum cleaner in the world to be certified by TUV Rheinland for privacy and security. So you can sleep well and not worry about leaking your data.
The cleaning power is regulated in the application – four modes are available, including “Silent”, “Balance”, “Turbo” and “Maximum”. You can turn on the carpet recognition function so that the robot uses the most powerful mode to clean it.
We tested the Roborock S6 MaxV on smooth flooring and carpets, and in all cases it provided a high quality cleaning performance. It easily collects large debris like scattered cat food and cleans the floor of hair and fur. Thanks to a suction power of 2500 Pa, the robot removes even fine dust adhering to the floor.
The only drawback that can be noted during the cleaning process is the high noise level, especially in the “Turbo” and “Maximum” modes. Therefore, we recommend using the Equilibrium program for maintenance cleaning – it is still powerful enough, but not as loud.
Roborock S6 MaxV also supports wet cleaning: for this, you need to connect a microfiber nozzle to it and pour water into a container for liquid. The application adjusts the intensity of water supply – in the most economical scenario, it will be enough for washing 200 m2 of floors.
When wet cleaning, the vacuum cleaner uses the smart SnapMop system. It allows you to set different flow rates for different rooms, set up dry zones and mark carpets on a map in the app.
The quality of wet cleaning is difficult to assess objectively – after all, it depends on the degree of pollution. However, remember that robotic vacuum cleaners are mainly designed for maintenance cleaning – so that the initially clean floor stays that way for as long as possible.

Roborock S6 MaxV is equipped with a 5200 mAh battery and can work on a single charge up to three hours. The manufacturer assures that the maximum harvesting area reaches 240 m2 . However, if you use the most powerful mode, the operating time will be reduced. For example, the robot spent about 10% of its charge on cleaning a 14 m2 room in the Equilibrium program. This is a good result considering its suction power.
