With a little ahead of the next Photokina, Samyang has just lifted the veil on its brand new 35mm f1.4 AS UMC model. This generous opening 35 mm will be available in Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Samsung NX, Sony Alpha and 4/3 Mount cases.
If we refer to the performance of the existing models of the Samyang range, there is no doubt that this new 35 mm f/1.4 should make talk about it. Indeed, offered at prices without competition in the market, Samyang lenses are particularly appreciated by photographers who are looking for a performance/price ratio to break everything.
This 35 mm f/1.4 comes just after the announcement of the new 35 mm f/1.4 Nikon which certainly has an AF-S auto focus motor while the Samyang remains to manual focus but with such a difference in price, we are entitled to ask a few questions. The first tests should quickly inform us about the quality of this 35 mm Samyang.
With 12 elements in 10 groups and a floating focus system, the 35 mm Samyang has everything to satisfy the most demanding who can do without auto-focus. The minimum focus distance set at 30 cm is another interest of this lens.
The 35 mm f/1.4 Samyang is full-format compatible on Nikon cases, it becomes a 50 mm f/1.4 equivalent on DX cases and proves in this case also interesting against the competition.
