Best Lenses for Your Canon Camera

Champion of the photography, Canon not only offers an extremely rich lens range in its own name, but the Japanese brand also benefits from a wide selection of compatible lenses developed by third-party manufacturers – Sigma, Tamron, etc…

Canon offers three types of mounts: the EF mount for its full-format sensor devices (EOS 5D Mark III, EOS 6D, etc…), the EF-S mount for APS-C sensor devices (EOS 700D, EOS 7D, etc…) and the BLOB mount for the brand’s only hybrid the EOS M.

Our selection of Canon lenses takes into account only EF and EF-S mounts, the EOS M being a commercial failure of which nothing is known about the future.

EF Mount

Compatible Devices: Originally intended for full format and APS-H sensor devices (EOS 1 D, EOS 1DS, EOS 1D Mark II, EOS 1D Mark II N, EOS 1 Ds Mark II, EOS 1D Mark III, EOS 1Ds Mark III, EOS 1D Mark IV, EOS 1D X, EOS 5D, EOS 5D Mark II, EOS 5D Mark III, EOS 6D), EF lenses are focal length is changed by a factor of X1, 6 due to the smaller size of the sensor. Example : a 20mm becomes a 32mm (EOS 1000D, EOS 1100D, EOS 100D, EOS 350D, EOS 400D, EOS 450D, EOS 500D, EOS 550D, EOS 600D, EOS 650D, EOS 700D, EOS 10D, EOS 20D, EOS 20DA, EOS 30d, EOS 40D, EOS 50D, EOS 60D, EOS 60da, EOS 70D, EOS 7D) and the EOS M via an adapter.

1. Tamron 24-70 mm f/2.8 SP VC USD

Tamron 24-70 mm
Tamron 24-70 mm

Its constant f/2.8 aperture, stabilization, good optical quality and very low price (twice cheaper than Canon’s 24-70 mm f/2.8) make this lens our favorite zoom lens.

2. Canon 24-105 mm f/4 L IS USM

Canon 24-105 mm
Canon 24-105 mm

Not too expensive and offering a fairly wide focal range, this is the kind of zoom that remains screwed to the case. Only shortcomings: a limited opening and a lack of stitching on the edges of the picture.

3. Canon 28-300 mm f/3.5-5.6L IS USM

Canon 28-300 mm
Canon 28-300 mm

For the lazy or those who can only carry one lens to do everything – landscapes, portraits, action-it is a fatal weapon. But its low brightness forces to rise the ISO and its high price can discourage more than one.

Sigma 18-35mm

This is the great lens innovation of the year 2013. Dedicated to APS-C sensor devices, it is the brightest zoom in the world. Covering a focal range of 27 to 52 mm, it does not offer the same amplitude as traditional zooms, but its constant aperture f/1.8 allows it to advantageously replace the 3 traditional fixed focal lengths of the report (28, 35 and 50 mm). A jewel whose only flaw is weight – 810 G.
